Scope and Contents

An exhibition of 50 photographs of ancient Egyptian monuments taken by staff photographer American artist Eliot Elisofon while on assignment for Life Magazine in the Nile Valley. Based on a January 1948 photographic essay from Life entitled “Art of Egypt,” the exhibition was arranged under the direction of E.C. Hayes at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and lent by Life Magazine.
The exhibition records span three folders and include an exhibition description, planning correspondence, and registration receipts.
