Scope and Contents

An exhibition of 14 paintings by American artists, including 10 works recently acquired by the Legion of Honor as purchases from the museum’s annual exhibitions. The museum acquired works by Yves Tanguy, Edward Spruce, Kay Sage, Charles Howard, Robert Gwathmey, Ben Shahn, Theodoros Stamos, William Thon, Karl Knaths, and Walter Stuempfig. Works on loan feature Morris Graves and Josef Albers. The exhibition records span one folder of installation photograph prints in the photograph collection.
