Scope and Contents
An exhibition of religious sculpture lent by an anonymous private collector. The exhibition provided an overview of religious sculpture from the twelfth to eighteenth centuries created in Spain, France, Italy, and Mexico. Notably, the gallery was outfitted to give the atmosphere of a cathedral by using darkened skylights, soft lighting, candles, textiles, and plants.
The exhibition records span five folders and include object and price lists, planning correspondence, registration receipts, planning notes and collateral, and collateral from other installations. Installation photograph prints and negatives are in the photograph collection. The Bulletin of the California Palace of the Legion of Honor Vol. 3, No. 8 covered the exhibition and is available in the archives.
