Movies in the Making, August 8-October 12, 1942
Scope and Contents
An exhibition of sketches, working drawings, models, elevation stills, and production stills from various movie studios and independent productions, along with publicity photographs displaying the creation of a motion picture. Studios represented were 20th Century Fox, Hal Roach, Warner Bros., and Alexander Korda. The exhibition was arranged by the Society of Motion Picture Art Directors and originally exhibited at the Baltimore Museum of Art. The San Francisco installation was supplemented with materials from MGM, Paramount, RKO Radio, Samuel Goldwyn, Columbia, and Universal.
The exhibition records span five folders and include an exhibition description, checklist, lender correspondence, general correspondence, and registration receipts. Installation photograph prints are in the photograph collection.
